How the CoMo Cooling Desk referral works

Think of CoMo Cooling Desk as a switchboard for heating and cooling problems in Columbia and the Boone County towns around it, plus Boonville and Fayette. Nobody here owns a gauge set or drives a service van. Your request goes to one independent HVAC contractor covering your ZIP, and that contractor reaches out to look at the system and quote it before booking the work.

Who pays for this

The contractor pays a fee for each introduction. Homeowners pay CoMo Cooling Desk nothing, ever. Prices and scheduling belong to the contractor, as does the repair itself.

Which contractors get your request

For addresses inside Columbia city limits, we send requests only to companies holding the City of Columbia license that the mechanical code requires for heating and cooling installation and repair. Past the city line, Missouri has no state HVAC license and the rules vary by town and county. In every location, refrigerant work requires EPA Section 608 certification, and you are entitled to ask for the card. Licenses and permits in Columbia.

Our two expectations

The contractor quotes before starting, and doesn't lean on you to say yes. If either one doesn't happen, call (573) 652-3793 and let us know.

Data and sources

Each guide ends with a numbered list of what it relied on. The climate and housing figures across the site are tallies we ran ourselves on NOAA NCEI daily weather records and US Census Bureau survey data. Method and caveats.
